Bedding a Tominator

I have a White Tominator 97B, I removed the stock and it looks like there is some black hardened material on the stock under the action and the flat lug on the barrel, I was thinking of bedding this shotgun as I only use it for Turkey hunting but could it have been bedded before?

Yes, sounds like it is bedded. I bed all my Whites (and just bedded a Tominator recently.)

my Tominator is bedded as well. Whomever did it knew what they were doing. Its rock solid but still comes apart.
