My buddy in Connecticut was hunting from a blind on Saturday afternoon when this guy showed up.
Said it came in about 20 yards away.
There's no hunting season for black bear in Connecticut.
I love seeing late fall bears. They look entirely different from what they look like, say, in June. By this time in the fall they've really put on the lard. We see bear in the cabin yard all summer and when they show up at this time of year they look like they over-stayed their time at the dinner table. The one in the picture is likely a female without the noticeable brow "bump" that a male of this size would have. I have one about this size on the wall in a half-shoulder mount.
Nice one for sure. Bear season opened there this passed Saturday. I been holding off on a deer to have a better opportunity. But the white oak acorns are everywhere. So bear sign has slowed down.
