Well… here’s another viewpoint.

With time, everyone seems to develop their own ritual! 🤠
When he says grease behind the ball does he mean between the ball and powder or between the ball and the barrel?

I shoot mine by loading powder, then a greased (w/ crisco) wad, then the ball. No grease or anything on top, try to use balls that shave a small lead ring when you seat 'em

Powder, dry wad or lubed wad, bullet, bore butter. Or a drop of oil instead of bore butter. Oil is not as messy as bore butter.

A 58? I have no idea what the make /model of this pistol is.

'1858' is merely a contemporary naming convention (i.e. misnomer), due to its patent date... I believe back in its day, it was referred to as the New Army Model
