I guess like everything else, the cost of things keep going up. It's a very good product and works well for a lot of folks. I have tried it in my Optima pistol and it worked fine but I'm staying with 3F Triple 7.

Yup Hodgdon's need for Greed on all the Powders they control ! Shooters World just raised their prices also. They are at $40 per lb. from Graf's that is 2 price hikes in 6 monthes of $5 each time !

I think the price will drop to around $75 and stay there. I think that's where the price was last year at this time and it moved off the shelves then. They may bring the price of 777 up enough to get people to pay a little more for the BH209. Once these companies realize they can get a certain price for a product, they don't want want to give anything back.

Damn glad I don’t shoot a lot of T7 anymore & I got 10lbs when it was 23.00 per.
It’s funny. I find myself refusing to buy it at $40-$45 when I’ve seen it not too long ago for $35. 🤣 I do need a few more pounds of 777, but I’ve got more than my fair share of Bh209 and smokeless tucked away.

I think that if anyone thinks that Hodgdon doesn't follow posting on sites like this they've missed the boat. Since the company owns both powders, BH and T7, and have had the BH marked up in the heavens for over a year, they'll start pricing the T7 up until the T7 is on par with the BH. I also think that pellets are going to go away as the granular T7 products go up in price. The company knows that the granular T7 has more utility than the pellets and people stuck on pellets will be forced to buy the more expensive T7 granulars.

Anyone who has spent any time at all with BH209 knows that it's at the top of the available propellant pile when it comes down to muzzies. T7 granular products are right there, yet under, the BH. It's only a matter of time before the top two powders are going to demand the top of the pricing and there isn't going to be very much difference in pricing and once the company has the consumer accustomed to the new, elevated pricing they'll begin with smaller portions just like they did with BH. It's nothing more than a marketing strategy that's spread out over a set period of time. And the company knows that people bellyaching about the cost/jug size for T7 and BH and reverting to real black or Pyrodex will not be happy campers in doing so and will likely break down and spend what they have to, to get either of the top two powders or just stop shooting muzzies.

I'm in the same camp as El Diablo when it comes down to the components we need in order to shoot. It's amazing how much BH I have seen locally on tables at garage sales for $15 or so bucks alongside of an inline because the owner didn't have a happy experience with a muzzy or he just isn't into hunting. I may not need any more BH for another decade, or any other powder I currently shoot for that matter, but I still buy these unopened jugs, then vacuum seal them. I do the same with primers.

Hodgdon is no different than Lay's Potato Chips. In an effort to seduce the buying public into thinking they're getting more than they really are they both using packaging that contains about 50% air. They raise prices and shrink the product volume and or weight. People gripe but still buy. That is going to happen yet with T7. People can boycott, but Hodgdon is a huge company and has way deeper pockets than a few trying to sway the company's desire to maximize profits. T7 will go the way of BH.

Well next year after I get moved to Bama. I will purchase 10 lbs. of T7, 4 lbs. 2F 6 lbs. 3F That's the last i will buy in my lifetime. Same for my Swiss Blk. 8 lbs 3F & that's it. After that it don't matter to me. I have 8,000 rounds of .22 & i will go back to what i did in my tree rat hunting days. Choot tick toters side the head & fill my freezer.

My bet would be that the pellets will never go away. I have no idea what the difference in the production cost is on the pellets vs the powder but the convenience, simplicity and (perceived) safety of pellets will continue to be a selling point for a certain type of hunter. Despite the fact that, as of right now, the cost of a 100 gr charge of pellets is almost twice the cost of the same charge of granular. My Walmart has 15-20 boxes of pellets on the shelf at the moment and no powder (I’m not even sure they stock powder). 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe. I think in the future the company will want to streamline things, and the pellets will go away. Times and attitudes are changing. Quickly. If the pellets stay, one could expect to see them going up in price right along with, and in pace with, the granular products.

If this happens, & that's a big IF, then I will be going back to my cartridge firearms for hunting, & back to real black powder in my traditional sidelock rifles for the "Daniel Boone" experience. I won't be held hostage by "Big Powder", who thinks that they can bleed the little man dry because they corner the market on BP substitutes.
