Bolt will not stay cocked Knight ultra lite

I appreciate any assistance you may have. I have had my knight UL for 8 years or so and when I got it out to clean and get ready for the 2020 season my bolt will not stay cocked.

I cleaned the trigger and that did not help. Not sure what the issue is with it.

I can take pics of the trigger and bolt if needed.

When you pull the bolt back to re-cock, it will not hold at that point? or is it when you rotate the bolt down to its locked position, then it goes off?

Have you disassembled the bolt for a good cleaning?

These pictures should help you. The adjustment at the back of the trigger adjusts the creep... If you read the information in the last picture box it gives you a method of adjusting the creep, Just rember if you get the creep set to light a bump could cause the rifle to go off. Make sure you do the safety test to make sure the creep is not set to close...

Ok tried cleaning everything even though nothing was dirty. I doubt there have been more than 20-25 shots ever. I’m the original owner.

I adjusted the sear engagemen, but at no point, even complete engaged (alway in/turned right) would the bolt remain in the cocked position. IE as soon as I put the bolt back in the action is was no longer cocked.

What next?

Back the sear engagement screw out to increase amount of engagement.

in the second picture, it looks like your trigger sear is worn on the right 2/3, check the mating piece on the firing pin, the part that engages with the seat (don’t know the proper name), I bet it’s the same. I didn’t see a picture of that. If it’s not worn too bad, you can probably just replace the trigger.

Backlash or overtravel adjustment backed out too far?

The angle of your picture of the trigger showing the Sear is not really showing the position of the sear too well. It should look like this one from the side(pic 1). Also look at the forward most part of the sear and it should be up far enough to touch the cross pin that keeps that sear from flopping up out of the trigger body (Pic2). In my 3rd pic its a bit harder to see but the sear should stick up above the flat on the right side bottom of the action (Pic 3). Last pic is the small block on the cocking peice that the sear catches o the bolt. Make sure the sear is all the way up and that small block on the bolt is not damaged in some way. This is from my UL.

I had a similar problem. I found that sometimes my trigger was off just a little to the right pushing again the stock and causing the trigger to stick in the fire position. Once l pulled it out and recentered it, it was clear of the stock and no more problems.
