Building an under hammer rifle in .44 caliber with a 1:17 twist green mountain barrel sharps rifle contour. Cutting tulip off and getting ready to drill and tap for breechplug.
The action comes with a 5/8x18 plug with almost 3/4” of thread engagement.
Will this be ok for .44 caliber shooting maybe up to 100+ grains of FFg? Or do I need to go to a 3/4” breechplug?

My whites are all 5/8-18. Different rifle I know, but should have no problem with strength.

A half inch of thread engagement is more than sufficient for what you are doing. With 3/4" of thread engagement, and 5/8"-18 threads you are good to go. 5/8"-18 threads will handle up to .50 caliber with no problems. Generally speaking, its the shift to .54 caliber that sees a move to 3/4"-16 threads.
