As is so often the case, life and the twists and turns that it throws atcha' always seem to impede progress toward the achievement of our personal goals. Between working a full time job, maintaining a marriage, maintaining a home and dealing with a worldwide health crisis I've had limited the time to spend on this project. Still, I've managed to make some headway and it appears that I'll have her finished in time for Rhode Island's generous, month long muzzleloader season in November.
So, the stock shaping is completed and I've begun the finishing process. The metalwork is polished and I spent a few hours yesterday at the bluing tank bluing this rifle along with a couple of other guns that I've been working toward restoring.
Attached are a couple of photos of the "before" look of the ultralight (less than 6.5 lbs scoped). Hoping to have a few "completed" pics up within the next week. Who knows? with any luck I'll get her done over this weekend.

Anyway,.....Hope everyone's doin' well and stayin' safe.

Stay tuned for the conclusion of the .45 Cal., Underhammer, Ultralight, Deer Rifle project.....

Thank you gentlemen...
Ahhh,....Block Island. Unfortunately deerman I have not. Unless you've got a place t stay on the island, it's difficult to orchestrate. Couple that with the fact that there's now a bounty on whitetails on Block Island but only for "residents" of the island. That's the source of some disdain for "non-residents" who attempt to take "their deer".... The state says no bag limit on whitetails on Block Island but the locals want 'em all to themselves....
A close friend of mine took 18 deer in one afternoon on that island some 30 years ago. He was seated in his friends bedroom and shooting from the open window. I wouldn't even mention it due to the legalities but he's passed on now so it'd be difficult to prosecute him. :)
Not hunting the island doesn't pose a problem for me though....I have no troubles filling my tags on the mainland.... Looking forward to baggin' a few with the new Ultralight .45 .

...............She's finished!!!!!.............
A big thanks for all of the encouraging feedback. It's the reaction from folks that makes it all worthwhile. Spent the entire day yesterday behind my checkering files but I got it done. From here it's off to the range where we'll work up a good whitetail load. This one's got a short barrel and my shots are always under 100 yards so I'm planning on starting small, probably 60 or 65 grains to begin with and we'll work up from there. Planning on videoing the range experience. I'll be sure to post a link when I do.

Here she is.....
