I finally got to shoot my new to me Traditions muzzleloader yesterday, and I made my first kill today. I was at my Mother’s house for our Christmas get together and saw the group of pigs down in the pasture, so I made a 500 yard stalk and was able to get within 70 yards for a shot. This little boar dropped like a rock.

sweet. Patch and ball????? What kind and how much powder??????
Since I’ve been hunting with smokeless guns for several years, all I had on hand was a couple boxes 50 gr Pyrodex pellets and some odds and ends of bullets, but I found that one pellet of Pyrodex and a 245 gr PowerBelt was a surprisingly accurate combo. I had only checked zero out to 50 yards, so I aimed top of the back on the pig and spined him.
