Colt 1860 Barrel Wedge Spring

I want to replace my 1860 Pietta wedge spring to fix problem with wedge coming completely out when I disassemble. I purchased replacement spring, I could not find out how to extract old spring from wedge.

Any suggestions?

Any information you can provide is appreciated. I am thinking I can use needle nose pliers to remove spring but didn't want to take wrong approach
