crappies on the brain again

Up way to early and subsequently bored way to early so I fired up the shop heat and sat down with the airbrush and some small crankbait bodies. This crappie pattern is a favorite of mine not only to paint but for catching , what else, but crappies.

The dime gives a little reference to size. These crankbaits are the smallest two-hook cranks I paint. "Just" an inch in length. Fun little critters to cast when crappies are working shallows. Sunfish have no problems finding themselves on the hooks too.

Our weather man reported last night that there are no polar vortexes swirling around in the north this year yet so maybe we'll have open water in six or eight weeks so I can actually fish these guys.

Tom, as always they are a work of ART!! A Crappie should be ashamed of himself if he doesn't go for them!

looking good, will definitely catch crappie have about a month or so and crappie fishing season will begin for me.
