I know it’s been beat to death a few times but I am curious on others opinions..I own 2 rifles that use this style plug. A .45 kodiak and a .50 kodiak. Both have been modified with vent liners to ignite bh209 reliably.
I know a few guys have gotten away by just drilling out that flash hole and had success that way..

my question is is it the size of the flash hole that helps

or is it the concave face that really helps?

or just a combination of both.

For sure, it can be said, that using a vent liner to create the concavity with a flash hole of only 0.028" will reliably ignite Blackhorn in all kinda weather.

Another 'fact' is a breech plug without the concavity with a 0.035" flash hole will reliably ignite Blackhorn in all kinda weather.

One might conclude that one or the other is required for reliable ignition, but not both.

What size is the flash hole on a stock hex head plug?

Also anyone know what size the flash hole is in the traditions accelerator plug? I’ve heard good and bad reviews On that plug in cold weather
