Hello :)

I need some information on a firearm:

Make: CVA
Model: Optima Muzzleloader
Receiver year: 2010
Scope: Konus 3-90X40 KonusPro Scope
Serial number: 035939
Model: PR2010SVPS
Primer: 209 Primer Ignition

I don't know if I have the year or serial number correct, and is this a Optima V2? :bang:

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks :dance:received_442095336420445_kindlephoto-2973580001.jpg

I'm a novice at this muzzleloader, my other firearms are all "bullets".

My apologies for the photos, I just snapped these quickly. :lewis:

No, that is a V1 with the QRBP. Action release is the dead give away. 2010 was about the first year for the Quick Release Breach Plug on all models.

V2 looks like this and was announced around 2013

Thanks everyone, It's nice to have some more information on this firearm, "correct information", and I prefer the V1 over the V2. The trigger guard doesn't have a hook on it.

:bravo:

Looks like it has never been fired. Nice gun. I remember getting my first ML. I was thinking... now what... is it gonna explode... How do i load it... Seems like so much work. Best thing i ever got, with the possible exception of my first motorcycle.

A new old stock, been packed away for years. :D
After reading about the "newer models" I'm not worried about it exploding like a hand grenade.
The older ones were unstable, this stainless steel Bergara barrel seems to be the best.
I like the design. The finish is nice, looks like my; custom built 1900 shotgun coach, that I built.
I want to order a Boyds stock for this I'm not into this plastic stuff.

Since it's a NOS "free" firearm, I can pimp it out a bit, install a scope rail, wooden stock, iron sights. ;)

Remington YOM 1900, 16 gauge shotgun "coach" that I custom built, updated 16 gauge ammo, receiver is hand rebuilt, trigger guard is customized, stock and forearm are hand cut, the finish is a great preservative for the finish, won't ever be a problem the best of the best. Found it in a old garage, as a wall hanger, in Alaska.

Now it is a ass kicker.:elmer:

CVA Scout stocks fit the V2 and i think the CVA Hunter stock fits the Wolf also. The older Optima V1 is very similar to the new Wolf.

Boyd's does offer a wood stock for the Wolf and older Optima but im not sure which one. There are 2 or more Optimas before the V1.

I have been reading up on the wooden stock, I can do some measurements, maybe a template and send it to Boyd to make sure it fits correctly.

After racking my brain I'm still on the fence about fit between the older CVA Optima stock and the CVA Optima V1 stock.

I want the wooden stock, however I need to find out if the Optima receivers are the same, or the older version stock can/can't be fitted to the V2. I can fit and finish the stock if it has enough material on it.

So, it's not going to work no matter what. Bummer, I really want a wooden stock. :(

I wish there was a way to accomplish this project, such a nice firearm it has potential with some modifications.

You need to call and ask. They may know what year models it fits. I would check since they offer Wolf and Optima stocks. New wolf is similar to Optima V1 and they dont say which Wolf either.

Thanks, I'll call them tomorrow, I really like wood stocks, however I have some hunting rifles with the Carlson Stocks and they are nice.

Well, finding a wood stock is out of the question. Too bad it would have been nice so I came up with a camo stock.

Not what I wanted, but it will be a nice addition to the firearm collection, a whole lot better than that ugly black stock......

When I first heard about muzzleloader for hunting, images of the old flintlock came to mind, firing problems, etc. When I looked into the modern day muzzleloader I was amazed at how the industry has advanced.

I really like the V1 over the V2 for breaching the firearm, however it has all of the V2 attributes, most of the V2 parts are interchangeable.

The new style breech plug is a great improvement over the old style, for me it's about speed, effectiveness, user friendly in hunting. Now I need to learn how to use the muzzleloader.

In anyone is interested, Dunham's is still selling new Optima V1s.
