Didn't have enough time to mess with it before the General Season, but got a screaming good deal this evening, and I couldn't resist.

I have had the CVA Scout V2 TD in .450 Bushmaster for a little over 2 years now. This one will be it's little brother.

Picked up some Vortex Viper Pro Series 30mm Low Rings to mount up my Vortex Viper 2.5-10x44 scope. Should be able to get that done this weekend, and weather permitting, maybe pinch some paper. Might even take it out for our anything legal goes muzzleloader season (CWD Zone), or for the late antlerless for the real test?

Man, is this thing ever short (20" barrel), compared to the .450. 35" overall length. Very manuverable. Would make an excellent tree stand or blind rifle. Trigger is excellent. I sure hope it shoots as good as my .450!

Could also be converted into a nice light squirrel rifle muzzleloader.

AWESOME Deal Busta!! I Will be watching this Close for your Results with it, This .350 Legend sure is a neat Little Round :lewis:

Could I inquire generally what they are selling for, my father has interest in the cartridge. thanks

i would like to hear about the accuracy of the .350 Legend, supposedly the .450 Bushmaster all shoot lights out.

The CVA Scout is $399 at most places. Some places are $350, which is a good price. I got this one for $299, which I couldn't resist. You can get the Ruger American for $350 - $399 ish. The Savage Axis for $299 - $350ish, The Axis II for $350 - $399ish. Shop around, the prices vary.

Besides, that poor Vortex Viper has been looking for a ride for about 3 years now. Loctite bedded the scope rail and torqued screws. Got the scope plumb level, and all screws torqued to spec.

Yes, the .450's are very accurate. My CVA Scout V2 TD will put my Ruger American to shame every time though.

How is the recoil on that 450 without the brake versus with the brake? I wouldn’t mind having another Scout, but I would want to cut that brake off and have a 22” barrel like my 44/445 SM Scout.

The recoil is not bad, it's just a radial brake, so it doesn't reduce recoil as much as a tactical brake does.

If you remove the brake and screw on the thread protector, the barrel is only 23 3/16" long.

I do get a little better groups with the brake, and it's not obnoxious like the tactical brake on the Ruger 16.12" barrel.

Got to admit the 350 legend has had me intrigued. But I just can’t justify another gun so close to my Maximum. With hand loads I can get 2400fps with Lil Gun and a 180 Hornady SSP.
I do like some of the new bullet offerings in .355. Maybe if I can get a great deal on one, I’ll pick one up.

What ranges are you taking deer with using that load? Are you getting pass throughs with it?

I can hold About 1/2 MOA on paper at 300yds with my loads. Furthest shot so far on game was at 225 and I hit just behind front shoulder on entry and through shoulder on off side and bullet was just under the hide.

At 175yds I’ve blown through behind the shoulders and not recovered a bullet.

had one at 120yds that went through both shoulders and did not recover the bullet. It really tore through and the butcher asked what I shot it with because of the damage on off shoulder.

in all I’ve probably shot 30-35 with the Max and none have went over 30yds, after the hit. We have large Whitetails in my neck of the woods. Most my bucks are 215-245 field dressed and doe range 150-160. I love my Max!

Got the scope rail Loctite bedded and torqued down.

Mounted the rings, got the scope plumb level and eye relief set. Torqued all ring screws to proper inch pounds. Let it all set for over 24 hours. I then removed the bases with scope from the rail to relieve any stress. Then I remounted the rings in the rail slots, pushing forward and torqued all ring mounting screws back to spec again.

The low rings leave enough room for easy cocking with the hammer spur extension under the ocular bell.

The light contour barrel leaves enough room for the scope covers with the 44mm objective bell too.

Also got it eyeball bore sighted. Just 4 clicks on windage and 8 on elevation. Not Bad!

Hate that I’ve high jacked Busta’s post so if anyone has any other questions about a Max, just message.

but I use the following load in an Encore 20” barrel and is safe in my setup, I have seen no signs of excessive pressure.
28gr Lil Gun
180gr Hornady SSP (hoarded 2000, when they went on discontinued, list)
Remington Brass
CCI 450 primers
2450fps via Magnetospeed

7 LB, 15 OZ as shown below with 30mm Vortex Viper 2.5-10x44 scope and rings. Balance point is straight down from rearmost edge of the forend.

That is a fishing scale, so it might be pre-programmed to lie on the heavy side.:D

It's 8 LB 7 OZ with 9 in the mag and 1 in the pipe. Balance point moved back 1/2". Loaded for bear!

I slugged the bore of my CVA Scout TD last night, and am coming up with 0.3555"ish - 0.356"ish for a groove diameter. The bore diameter on the lands is a little harder to measure, due to the type of rifling CVA/Bergara uses. The lands are sharp on the corners, and the top of the flats are not flat by design, they are concave. This IMO, is what makes their barrels so damn accurate. I'm getting right around the 0.346"ish - 0.347"ish in the corners, and 0.350"ish - 0.351"ish in the concave section. I'm happy with those numbers.

The only bad thing about using a pure lead slug, is your only get one chance to measure it before you deform it a little with the caliper.

This type of rifling should also be better for monolithic bullets, again IMO.

This .350 Legend ain't no .450 Bushmaster as far as accuracy, yet. But is it ever a pussycat to shoot.

Not bad chronograph numbers on the Hornady 170 grain. The Winchester 150 grain were a little slower, and the Winchester 180 grain were dogs by comparison. The Winchester 145 gr were the fastest but not nearly as consistent.

I discovered that I need to adjust the Quick Take-Down forend, so hopefully groups will be better the next session.

Not real happy with most of the groups, but most are between 1"and 2", except for the Winchester 180 grain. Hopefully I can find some Federal ammo before the next range session.

I set the first Target up at 33 yards to make sure I would be on paper. I had previously eyeball bore sighted the scope. First shot using the Win 145 gr FMJ hit 2" low and 1" right. Made the adjustment up and left, next two were touching in the x-ring. Chrono speeds listed.
IMG_20191223_173754267.jpg

Stapled up a Target at 100 yards for the remainder of the shooting.

First up at 100 yards was the Win 150 gr EP, 1.650" group about 3"-4" high and a hair right.
IMG_20191223_174116144.jpg

So I adjusted Down 4 MOA and Left 1 MOA. I shot the Hornady 170 gr, 1.588" group 3" low and 1" left.
IMG_20191223_173707527.jpg

No adjustment. I shot the Win 180 gr PP, 2.429" group about 2" low and 2" across. Ugly!
IMG_20191223_173943434.jpg

Adjusted scope back Up 1 MOA for the Win 150 gr, 1.278" group about 1" high.
IMG_20191223_173904881.jpg

Adjusted scope up 2 MOA for the Hornady 170 gr, 1.135" group just a little low and left.
IMG_20191223_173931110.jpg

No adjustments for the next group, if you could call it that. Win 180 gr , ugly 3.835" group. Real ugly! I rushed this group, because the guys showed up across the road for the late antlerless, but I was holding better than what the outcome was.
IMG_20191223_173953798.jpg

So, not exactly what I was expecting, but I could sure hunt with the Hornady 170 or Win 150. Just a matter of the 150 hitting 2-3 MOA higher at 100 yards. Simple Correction.

I didn't shoot the 145 gr FMJ at 100. I have a feeling they will hit on the same level as the Hornady 170 and Win 180. I will find out for sure during the next range session.

Sorry it wasn't a better report, but it is what it is. I really think I could do better if I get the forend tweeked in like I do on my .450. it's adjustable for stand-off and lock-up. There was variable winds from R - L, but I think it was more ammo issues and the rusty nut behind the butt.

I'll run some more FMJ's through it to break it in. This would be a great rifle for the kids starting out, women, or anyone that is sensitive to recoil. It really is a soft shooter!

What is the Trigger pull like in these Busta? Pull Weight Roughly? Creepy, Gritty?

I bet with some handload Tinkering you would Nail it down quick. Good example- I bought a Howa 1500 7MM-08 Several years ago, I am a DIEHARD Handloader, been doing it over 30 Years. I bought everything to Load the new 7-08 But I really didn’t have time to mess with it, I ended up buying 2 Boxes of Factory ammo in hopes of Sighting in and Hunting with the Rifle, I Got the Scope Mounted, Everything ready to go, Headed to the Sandpit to Dial it in, Talk about HORRIBLE Groups!! BAD!! Both boxes of Factory Ammo shot Equally BAD. I packed up and headed home with the DREADED thought that i had Bought a DUD Rifle. I got home and Broke out my Loading stuff and Setup for 7-08, I loaded 5 or 6 Test Rounds and Headed back out. Those Shots Could EASILY have Been Covered with a 50 Cent piece :lewis: Talk about Wipe the Sweat off your Brow, I knew the Rifle was a Shooter!! I take Factory ammo Groups with a Grain of Salt, i have Seen some REALLY ODD stuff over the Years with Factory Ammo, The above 7-08 situation is one of them.

The accuracy your getting is CLOSE, She’s lacking something? Something as little, yet BIG, like Seating Depth, in fact i would BET on that Gun Shooting LIGHTS OUT with a Little Seating Depth Tinkering
