Is it ok to dry fire my Traditions Vortek strikerfire?

I finally got a Traditions guy on the phone, yes it is ok.

If you want to dry fire anything its best to have something in there so the firing pin isn't over extended. Everyone has a dead primer. Keep one handy to slip in the pocket to dry fire, then remove it to a handy place for next time.

Maybe once in a while is ok but I wouldn't do it as a steady diet.
I don't know if you can get snap caps for a muzzleloader.

Thanks MrTom and deermanok, I'm using a spent 209 primer. Nice 2 lb trigger from the factory.

While it may be ok I wouldn't make a steady diet of it. I would try and place something over the nipple like a spent cap like mentioned before or better yet, some form of thin rubber.
