Very informative GK. I notice you have a Bestill Conversion listed. Same as Encore50A?

Nice line-up you also have there toytruck. Any degradation issues using T7?
To the rest of my BP Anonymous colleagues from page 1, thank-you all. Hopefully we can keep the recipes coming. After we get some more, I'll summarize 'em

It's muzzy season here in Michigan since last Friday and I've recently been seeing quite a few classifieds for buying/selling Bullets.
Got me thinking it might be interesting if you fellow muzzleloaders could share your best recipes:

Gun description/bullet maker/caliber/type/weight/propellant/charge (please note if by weight or volume)/muzzle velocity.

It's understood that any postings are for information/entertainment only and in no way suggests the following loads are appropriate/safe for all.
As is so often repeated here and other forums, start with a minimum charge and slowly work up.

Since I switched over to Blackhorn with the Arrowhead LMRP Module system last winter, I haven't had a chance to measure mv.

My kit:
Original Ultimate Muzzleloader/Fury Custom Bullets/50 Caliber/Universal Fit/320Gr/Blackhorn 209/100 grains weighed.
Parker be &max weight blackhorn 209 for me

For the youngin's and others recoil sensitive, TC Cheap Shot ( 240 grain .45 lead h.p. in a sabot) over 40 grains ( volume) 3f T7. Chrono'd 1350 fps, so think .44 mag revolver power. 10 deer with this load, from 15 feet to 125 yards. All, save 2, were pass throughs.
.45 cal 250 grain Hornady XTP in Harvester crush rib sabots, over 70 grains of 3f Swiss Holy Black. 1575 fps from my Firehawk, 1610 from my Hawken. Superb accuracy and makes a great batch of chest soup. 16 deer with that load. Only recovered 1.
300 grain .45 ( non- magnum) XTP, same sabot and charge. 1500 fps from the Firehawk. VERY accurate and quickly removes a critters will to live. 2 deer with that one. It's actually my bear load.
What you hunt and at what ranges you typically shoot will determine your load requirements. Most shots are well under 100 yards, so there's no need to pour half a can of powder down bore, followed by your wallet for premium projectiles.
Of course you can, and it's a beautiful thing if you can afford it! Personally, I like easily found shootables ( relatively speaking) and getting 100 shots out of a pound of powder.
150 yards is my limit. These loads work very well. The 250 grain XTPs shot 4 inch groups at 200 yards the other day. My Firehawk is aperture sighted, zeroed at 100, the drop was 24 inches. It's down 8 at 150, hence the limit.
Good fortune to ye

Traditions Tennessee rifle
50 caliber, 495 round ball, .015 Oxyoke cotton patch, 75 grains by volume Swiss 3f.
CVA Mountain Stalker rifle
50 caliber, Hornady PA conical 240 grain. 80 grains by volume of 2f Swiss.
CVA Optima V2 pistol,
50 caliber, Hornady 240 grain XTP hollow point bullet.
80 grains by volume 2f Triple 7.
These are pretty much my go to hunting guns.
First off, I like that load in the CVA Optima V2 pistol. Very accurate for me but I still like to hunt with Buckhorn 209 powder. I have tried the PA conical in a number of rifles with accuracy problems no matter what powder or load measure. What twist do you find most accurate for the PA conical?

Factory CVA Wolf V2
Just beginning and have shot

Cheddite primers (all I could find)

74gr by weight bh209

250gr Barnes spitfire Tez with the supplied blue sabots

290gr Barnes spitfire Tez with the supplies blue sabots

Rifle seems to like both weights just fine.

I picked up some blemished 300gr bullets from midway that as far as I can tell look to be hornady sst. Got some smooth and crush rib sabots (don’t remember what brands n I’m at work. But they’re both black) to try with them. Just need to get to the range to do it.
