The .54 Plains first.
Top band and mid bands .545, bottom band .540. Heaviest 457 grains. Lightest 455.4
The .50 Plains
Top and mid bands .503, bottom band .496
Heaviest 400 grains, Lightest 398.6
I just degreased and started casting. But I was having a hard time getting nice filled out bases. The hole in the sprue plate seemed awfully small, so I opened it up, from the bottom, with a 1/4 inch bit.
That did it!
I started with the .54 and it was still hot. I heated the .50 on the edge of my pot for maybe 15 minutes and the 3rd bullet was perfect.
This level of consistency is quite the HOOT for one used to casting minies!
I believe I'll launch some .54s from the Renegade tomorrow. If there's any problems, it won't be poor bullet quality!
If these bullets are as accurate as I hope they'll be, my Hawken and Renegade may just be lead sleds.
Gonna come back SMARTLY though. Glad I have a P.A.S.T. pad...
