FYI..............
Just in case anyone might be purchasing a firearm that will require a 4473, you might want to consider your purchase long prior to when you might need or want it.
Due to the many things going on in the country, firearm sales have went through the roof and in doing so, its backed up the Federal approvals.
Here in MI, if you have a CPL, you used to be able to just walk into a sports shop and the CPL gave you immediate approval. Of course if you were purchasing a handgun, you were still required to register it after the purchase.
Then back on March 3rd, the Feds took that option away from MI, all because the Michigan State Police were being what the Feds called, 'Sloppy with record keeping'. So in MI, since March 3rd, you could no long use your CPL and were required to pass the Federal background test. Some suggest that this nit-wit governor we have may have suggested the MSP be a little sloppy????
I needed something to replace an air rifle for vermin, so I decided on a Ruger 10/22 and Vortex scope. Well I found out that I was about 34th on the list at the sports shop that had been called in. Seems that the Feds, instead of checking all information from a single store, decided that they'd only do up to 10 at a single time, checking for approval. I checked with the store yesterday and they received 10 approvals, no more. So I'm on my 9th day of waiting for approval even with a CPL. The store tells me that the Feds have been approving just 10 a week so it may be awhile.
What may be happening in your state may vary, but with all the firearms being sold, I've heard the increase was over 500%, make sure you purchase well prior to your need.
