I am using Lyman 57-SME peep sights on both Super 91’s and due to my vision want to run fiber on the front sight. I will either be shooting 460gr. Or 420gr. Bullshop bullets for elk. Can someone recommend a particular height front blade that will work with keeping the Lyman down close to the barrel. I’m figuring on max ranges being 200-225 yards At the most.

My OEM front blade on one of my Super 91s is .350 high. I have a Williams Western Precision (my favorite fiber optic front bead) on another rifle currently that is .470 high. I think there’s no reason why that Williams front wouldn’t work with a Lyman 57 SMET - lots of height adjustment available in the Lymans but it’s not going to be down tight to the barrel and it’s a big globe - not a blade as you asked about. That would be my choice hands down though.

I just measured my fiber optic on my whitetail and it’s.350. I also have the Lyman 57 mounted on mine. I shoot a home cast 450 grn bullet very similar to the bullets you’re talking about using. I also installed a hood on my front sight ramp to protect the fragile fiber.

the measurement you came up with is from the bottom of the fiber insert to the top of the bead correct? That is exactly what I am hoping to find in green. I will ask Williams if they can provide it in green. Don't see why they wouldn't. I like the open top hood also. Was that a Williams part number?

I just looked at midway USA. The front sight is .375 x.250 and the front hood shows in stock. Did not see anything in green though.
Thanks for the information. I ordered the .343 x .250 front blade. The original sight insert on the rifle is .250 tall so I went a little taller with the .343. I also ordered two of the covers and two peep sight apertures 3/8" wide with a .150 hole. Those will be for hunting. I have others with much smaller holes for sight in purposes.

How did these sights work? Was the height ok? How did the globe fit?

I have my 451 Super fitted with a Lyman 57 and a Williams Western front globe with the small fiber optic? I'm going to set up my Whitetail 451 for a backup and thought about going the route you and Harleysboss went.
