Mine just arrived LOVE IT!!!! Beautiful glass!!! Clear from edge to edge. Hash marks are just like the picture, very small actually. It did come with a 4" sunshade and lens caps. Cant imagine a better hunting scope for $200.

Well Crap. Can't really afford it at the moment but I too just ordered one. Hope it is all it is supposed to be. For $200 can't get a good Used Leupold 4x12 VariXII AO so hope it is good.
I have never even looked though a Vortex that I can recall. The Description did not mention the sunshade. That's a cool option if it is in there. Let ya know what I think when I get it.

Several years ago some guys were talking up the 3x9 SII Sightron. I had a Nikon fail so it had to go back and all I had was 2 1/2 weeks till season. Natchez had them and I got one. During sight in I noticed that it was a bit unfocused at the outsided edges and a bit in toward the center but most of it was clear and sharp. I took it off and shipped it back. They had it for several weeks with no contact. During that time had to swap a scope off another rifle so I could use the MZ I wanted to use. Later on I finally called them. They told me they had took it to their range and could not see anything wrong with it. I explained again verbally what I saw, they said "nope don't see that". I then explained to them that I let 2 other club members check it out and did not tell them what I saw. They both saw the same thing. I told them that they could send it back then and I would just drop it in a box. They told me no they would send me a New replacement. Best I remember that all took somewhere between 2 and 3 months. When it came I just sold it NIB.

Sportmans had a few Loopies on sale too in the flyer. I saw one that looks ok but i really wanted the Vortex. Several of the Sightrons are a great value also. Lotta of scope for the money but SIIs are gone. The new ones in a similar price range are not nearly as nice IMO. $250 for the SII 3x9x42 was a bargain.

They had a VX3i 3.5x10x40 for $299...Excellent eye relief on that model and a plain jane reticle.

Ive been looking for ages for the near perfect hunting scope that dont cost a grand.
3x is almost perfect for low
12x is more than enough for high
42mm is larger than i need but it beat slapping a huge 50mm on it
4" of relief is great. Spot on what i wanted
Wont find better quality glass for $200
Side focus was a nice option to have. I dont care for AO.
I can live with the reticle, its fine actually.
    Great warranty and CS reviews

Main con is weight. It wont be going on my ULA but there are still a few 2x8 HP out there.

The extra $100 for the VX3i just wasnt worth it to me but it is probably a tougher scope. Its a bargain for anyone wanting a Made in USA scope with great specs.

I really could not afford it at the moment but......we know how that is. I will wait till it gets here to decide what I will put it on. The Custom .32cal is heavy anyway so no real issue there. IF it is not too bad it may wind up on the Anschutz. We'll see. The big reason I am a fan of the AO is that it allows you to move a Rifle scope so equipped from a CF to a Rimfire, or back, and be able to adjust the parallax as needed. Makes the scope more versatile in my book. The Side focus would just make it easier to reach and adjust.

I really like under 3x for low but i can live with it. That Razor HD specs are impressive and 2x10x40 is a hard combination to find. Thats a $800 scope anywhere else and no longer offered by Vortex. I probably would have grabbed one if i saw it first. Only because if it failed and had to be replaced the only HD LH left in the line up is a 3x15 with side focus.

I like being able to adjust parallax, i just dont want it on the objective lens. As well as being further away it increases the size of the obj bell. Its annoying or a down right PITA if you want flip up lens caps. Side focus is simple and the marks are easily seen in ready to shoot position.

Man i wish i could find a affordable 2x10x40 with a 1" tube and good eye relief. I would have grabbed that Razor HD if i saw it before getting the HP. Cant afford it but they are all well over $500 and 30mm tubes. Minox had a ZA5 you could pick up for a ok price when they closed them out. Cant find one now.

Midway had a good sale on the Vortex for like $299 in 2x10, if I recall the right power range. About drove me nuts while I was shopping the last couple months cause I would always click on it and then notice the 30mm tube again and again.:wall: I have a couple sets of 30mm rings that came with a rifle I bought but have no use for them. Sure did not need a 30mm tube on my Anschutz. Still waiting for my Vortex. Said should be here next Tuesday, tracking shows it in NJ now but doubt it will make it here tomorrow.:( I thought they would ship it from Morgantown WV, but that was just the closest store Pick up location, It shipped from Salt Lake UT area.

Yup sure is. Been looking forward to it all day. Unfortunately it arrived at Dark.:( Our regular mail carrier was not working today and her replacements are always delivering later. She is usually here between 3:30 and 4pm, can almost set a watch by her.

Can't tell anything about the glass yet. We'll see about tomorrow since a Nor'Easter is headed this way. I do see a couple things about it in looking at it. You are right in that the BDC lines are not bad for that type reticle they are not near as obtrusive as most, quite small actually, I too can live with that.:lewis: This dudes is heavy though, never thought 4 or 5 extra ounces would be noticeable but it is. Side focus adjustment is quite tight but smooth, not really a bad thing as it will not just rotate on its own and may work easier when mounted. The Power ring is also tight but smooth not a bad thing there either. It is hard to believe it came with a 4" sunshade at this price, lens caps too even though they are a cheap Plastic bungee type set, but they will be ok. Man I wish it came earlier as we had some good clear sky that would have let me check out the glass. So far so good. But it all boils down to the glass and its clarity.

Exactly...nothing to show you the yardage for the hash marks that fit your custom load. Just have to use a ballistic calculator and compare against their class charts to get something that might be close. That sucks when there are other options that you can tailor to match a manufacturer's reticle exactly to what you are shooting. And also print out a custom chart to have on hand or screen shot on the phone to keep handy.

Vortex is really missing the boat on their not having a Deadhold reticle application like Nikon.

Really happy with mine for a sub $300 scope and at $200 i think you will have a hard time beating it for a ML. Much better than the Crossfires and better eye relief than any standard Diamondback for less money. The only current model that is close it the Tactical 4x12x40 and i wanted 3x or lower. Plus its target knobs and not what i really wanted on the Super DISC or NULA. You can get them though for $250ish if you like them. Optics Planet does have some 3x9x40s on closeout for $209.

If i would have seen the Razor HD LH first i would have jumped on it. I weighs quite a bit less and it has their HD series glass. Price is down to $444 now on Amazon. Other vendors are still $799 for it and MSRP was $999.
    https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-razor-hd-lh-2-10x40.html?vortex_reticle=837

Im still on the fence about my Savage Pacnor but if i keep it im going with a SWFA SS scope. Its a pig but so is the Savage. No use fighting it. The SWFA SS scopes get top notch durability, MOA adjustment and tracking reviews. The 10x42 side focus model is basically the US contract scope once sold by Tasco to the US military. A few improvements were actually made to it. Side focus models run $100 more than rear focus. SWFA black Friday sales include some bundles at a substantial savings.

IMO guys putting together lower cost range rifles should really take at look at them. MLs like the new Paramount shooting 140gr loads of BH209 are murder on scopes.

I got to look out my back door this morning as the sun was coming up and this afternoon (Gloomy with the Nor'easter starting up). I looked though it next to a Leupold VariX3 3.5x10 (Older scope) that's now on the UL. I can't see any difference in the quality of the glass. The Vortex is absolutely clear the the edges as far as I can see. :lewis:So far the only down side see is the weight. At 18oz its actually 2 oz heavier than a Weaver 24X Target scope that is 16oz. I find this scope is heads and tails better then the Sightron I bought and did not like. Really wish that Sportsman's had those Plex 4x16's that listed as "out of stock" on the same page.

I was thinking of using this new Vortex on my Ridgerunner custom.32 since it is already heavy, but since it is a Plunger style action I think not. The Side focus and turrets would need a big cover over them and then you could not use the side focus. I would also be afraid that soot from the action would get into the Side focus adjustment and eventually bind it up. So it may end up on my Anschutz after all. I already had to put High rings on it just to put the Leupold 4x12x40 on it so there should be plenty of room for the 42mm Objective on this one. If it was a sealed action ML this would be a great scope for it, especially on something heavier then the UL like an Extreme.

That is about what im seeing too. VX2 or better glass. Hard to say but its very nice for the price. Its just a bit of a pig. It might find its way to my SavPac 45 later if something better comes along for the Super DISC.

Not sure if you have seen these. They more or less replaced the HPs

4x12x40 16.1oz, 3.9" relief and a reticle slightly similar to ours. No side focus and target/tactical turrets. Ive seen them for about $250 and $209 for the 3x9
    https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-diamondback-tactical-4-12x40-riflescope.html

The FFP models are 30mm tube pigs and only come with a really busy reticle. 23oz-24oz
    https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-diamondback-tactical-4-16x44-ffp-riflescope.html?vortex_reticle=23

While not obvious on their website they have limited distribution runs that are not always listed in the other model sections. Some of these can still be found

I saw most of them. Was really trying to avoid anything with out some Parallax adjustment or the busy reticle. I was mostly looking for something for my .22lr or the .32 so to get the higher power (12x or more) you pretty much need to go to a Rifle scope and not a Rimfire. So to get a shorter parallax you would need the AO or sidefocus. There is one option I was starting to look into but for the Price of this Vortex I did not pursue it. IF you look at the Leupold Web site to drill down some, there is an option to have one of the Freedoms preset to a range lower then 100yds. I was toying with calling them about that but you would have to order it direct and it would cost a tad more.

We still got Real Heavy Winds here today but hoping it will stop that by Saturday. I think I will try the new Vortex on the Anshutz, but with the winds we got now you would hit a target on the opposite side of the range.

This was a scope a member Pm'ed me about. I was looking at thm too. This one caught my eye but its a bit long and a pig too.

    http://www.clearidgeoptics.com/product-p/3500.htm

Thought about this one too as it would be ok on a small cal ML. Weight is better on it but less power.

Got out this morning to check out the new Vortex. I put it on the Anschutz last night and bore sighted it. At the range I was amazed at how clear the glass is on this scope, and completely clear all the way to the edges. It really is nice.:lewis: Now I really wish they had stock on the 4x16 DBHP.
