Yes, my IL deer hunting is mostly done for the year, work & other duties. I was down this 2nd period, saw a handful, no monsters. It’s somewhat QDM property, though nothing drastic.

Anyway I took this 8 pointer, 120 lasered yards, 45 cal, 195 grain Barnes copper bullet, crush-rib sabot, 115 grains by volume of B209. After the shot, deer went 20 yards.

I loaded a 200 grain XTP, same charge & sabot then took the ‘anterless’ at 80 yards 20 minutes later. This second ended up being a nubbin. This deer went zero yards after the shot.

The gun is 32A5C2FC-10F7-408D-87F0-D8E514CAECC2.jpega 45 cal Knight Elite, Zeiss 3-9 Conquest mounted. The other two guys shot a larger 9 point, then a smaller 8. The weather was great.

Congrats, your all set for venison now. :lewis:

Same stand on the earlier youth hunt the 14 y/o niece bagged this buck. Somewhat by coincidence, all 4 bucks shot this fall were from this stand. It happens to be a fairly comfortable’Red Neck’ blind on a 10’ stand. Over recent years the hang on stands are less & less, ladder & box blinds more & more.

Awesome stuff mate! A Whitetail buck is high on my list for someday.
