A few questions , But I’ll start with this one. I bought a mountaineer back in December and haven’t messed with it much other than take it out and admire it. Started messing with it and can’t get the bolt in all the way, I’m sure it’s something I’m not doing correctly. I will have a few more questions but first things first. I’ve never had a bolt action muzzy and this is new to me. I took a couple pics to show what I’m talking about. Thanks in advance!

It mine have caught on the stop screw for the bolt on the left side.I pull that little screw out to allow the bolt to go in on both of mine.Good looking muzzy there.Is that the forest green?

Pull out on the bolt release on the left side and then push the bolt forward.

You’ve inadvertently rotated this part of the bolt…
The manual will tell you how to correct - pretty simple.

This might help you see the alignment of parts

Also there is an art to re-installing the hammer assembly back into the bolt correctly.

Great catch! I looked at that but I could not tell if that was the problem.

 

[GM54-120]

Basically its
1) Screw the secondary safety in all the way
2) Screw hammer assembly in all the way
3) Back out hammer assembly 1-2 turns until the notch lines up
4) Unscrew secondary safety while keeping them lined up
5) Re-install bolt assembly into action.
