I think the TC White Mntn Carbine would be a good one for you, too, Muley Hunter. Shorter barrel and lighter, good for stalking and easy to carry and shoulders well, imho. I know you like to get in closer. But good choice on the GPR.
 
That's just one thing wrong with it. Compare it to what I bought and like.

I appreciate it but it's either a proper Hawken or I might as well go modern and use a scoped inline. Which isn't off the table yet. It's going to depend on how the Hawken feels on my back when it shows up.

I can't compromise. Traditional to me means a proper replica, black powder, PRB, and primitive sights.

Going modern means everything modern. Inline, scope, modern powder, and bullets.
 
Im with you. Ive stated on this site before that putting a scope on my sidelock would be like using a can of spray paint to paint a fine car in the rain. Not gonna happen.
