Sometimes I get lucky.
Every once in a while I stumble upon a nice piece of maple to shape.
off topic:
Here's my latest wood project... albeit less dramatic grain ...
a little like a Garand got with a TC... 14" 6x223 bbl. fully free-floated from rear lug forward.

Just got into Encores after about 35 years of contender addiction
Holding myself back, just a 270 rifle barrel and a 209x45 rifle setup.
Probably gonna pass on the handgun platform with this one.
