What is the opinion on Lyman Great Plains Rifle in .50 cal?

Ive heard their quality has gone downhill some in the last few years. Heard good things aboot there older guns tho. Nothing consistently good or bad but then I have only had an older investarms, i think they made the Lymans. and never did shoot it much.

They seem to always have the nicest wood for their stocks. Chome lined barrels too.

My LGPR in .50 cal. percussion is the best of all my muzzleloaders. That includes 3 other early TC .45+.50's in flint and percussion.

Bought mine 15 years ago when their quality was outstanding. Would never trade or sell it now.
Beautiful walnut, great inlet fitting and very accurate. And yes it was Investarms made for Lyman.

Look for a good used one!

I really enjoyed my GPR in .54. Wish I never traded it off. Still haunts me

The new ones are pretty bad. That's why Lyman went to Pedersoli.
