Don't think it makes any difference if its concentric. A lot of custom barrels have a 45 degree crown for ease of loading. I still personally like 11 degrees.

God Bless, Louis

Rice patched ball twist barrels have a 60° crown.

As far as I know, Jason uses the same 60° crown on his .62 caliber Forsyth rifled barrels, which are capable of 200 grain black powder charges under a 0.600" diameter ball.

And, I believe that the same 60° crown is utilized for the 4140CM steel, fast twist barrels in .45 caliber & .50 caliber.

The crown of a muzzleloader serves a slightly different purpose than that of a breechloader.
On a breechloader, it serves to protect the edge of the rifling.
Same too on a muzzleloader, but there's a LOT more activity going on at the muzzle of a frontstuffer.
For patched ball, a more rounded crown helps ease loading and minimize unwanted patch cutting. By rounded I mean like a TC Hawken/ Renegade factory crown.
Tight fitting conicals also benefit from more rounded crown. It does sabots no harm either.
Then there's the rammer...
