New Member - Knight Shooter

Hi I’m Travis from Team Buffalo Outdoors. I’m a passionate outdoorsman from New Jersey - yes, we’re allowed to Hunt in that state.

My muzzleloader arsenal:

1998 Knight Original Disc .50 Cal 1:28 twist w/ 3x9 Leupold
- 90 gr by volume of blackhorn with 250 gr Knight Red hots

1979 Investarms .50 cal 1:48 twist percussion cap Hawkin iron sights
-100 gr of pyrodex/blackpowder with .50 cal round ball and patch.

I’m looking to upgrade to a Mountaineer thumbhole or Ultra-Lite with the nitrided barrel, however, Knight informed me nitrided barrels are on hold right now due to COVID. Only the Dynatek Stainless Steel models are available.

Should I wait it out, or buy a dynatek coated mode now and ship it out to parker trutech for a salt bath nitride?

To the brotherhood. I’d wait for the Nitride, why? Because I don’t have one. Oh, I have no complaints whatsoever with the dynatek stainless rifles.

Welcome Travis. Good choices. IMHO the Mountaineer. Are you sure you can put the nitride over the dynatek?

Thanks michigan muzzy. I’m not entirely sure you can nitride over dynatek. That’s something I need confirmation on.

Im pretty sure you cant since nitride isnt a coating but a change of the actual structure of the metal (at the surface). You can possibly put Dynatek over nitride. Or a powdercoat or even just a vinyl wrap, thats what i prefer since i can do it myself and pull it off if i want to.
