Have any of you ever lapped a cavity on a mould before? I don’t think it would be too hard, but I would love a mirror polish on the inside. A cheap “across the pond” lathe and self cut cutting tools are not conducive to a super great finish...

Okay, now I gotta go to work....
Couldn’t resist. They drop at .510 which is .001” larger than I wanted. I gotta get a new lathe. 😜
They are sticking in the right side of the mould, which is a pain, but I’ll get that figured out.
It was “dead on” centered in the chuck when I bored the bullet profile. So I don’t know what the heck there. Hopefully just some burrs I missed.
BTW, don’t use mould release when the mould is hot. The bullet in my hand was after I sprayed that stuff in there.

Casted 146 of them. The majority seem to weigh in between 409 and 410 grains. I had 1 at 405 grains and 1 at 411 grains. Massive swing in weight, I know, but I get a different number every time I turn the scale off and back on again. It’s a little Hornady digital guy. 99 of the 146 are within 2 grains from 408.5 - .410.5. Gonna shoot em all anyway...

Change the battery.

What about 0000 steel wool on a sloted wooden dowl rod and wrapped around it ?? I think id try that . Compounds might plug the vents and be hard to get out of there . If you think it wouldnt be so bad id put rouge on a big bore mop if i wanted more shine . Chuck it up , indicate it in , and spin it up fairly fast . Should work good without unneccasary size increases .

Looks good.
I did some HP diameter testing with Ronlaughlin with my 50/475 mold - pure lead, I think we tested 3 HP diameters. When velocity slows to nearly speed of sound the HP needs to be nearly 1/2 bullet diameter.
Your bullet is lighter, but maybe not enough to matter at 400gr.
Rons BH209 35/50gr testing results are in the in-line section.

And thats about 200yds away slowing to about 1080fps (approx speed of sound) IF you put some Powder Behind It . The speed of sound varies a bit based on air temp also . Moral of the story is to use the Hottest charge you can and still have accuracy . THATS the science of that
Anything larger than about .180" hp Destroys bc . Deeper is better too at around .400" or so . This Works Best . Mr Goulds discoverys were very accurate . .

Apples to oranges with his White concerning bh209 . Besides , no sub sonic flight theories in use ??

Ignore what you will but thats the science of it . It also started out Well Above sub sonic for 973fps at 275yds .

how you get good ignition shooting bh209 out of a white or am i reading it wrong

sdpiorter. I do hope you are goofing off?
Ronlaughlin reduced test have overwhelming proved the tips are a detriment to a bullets explanation.

During the same timeframe, I made a tip myself for my bullet to test it’s possible POI change at 200yds.
3 bullets of each were shot and no change of impact was noticed - all 6 went into the same grouping. I looked for the “tip vs no tip” post, but it looks to have been deleted during the forum ownership changs.

Reading it wrong Bob . Stacy cant use bh209 to get the high velocities needed to come close to 973fps at 275 yds . The sub sonic nonsense may be fine on the bench but has no place in the hunting realm at all . Had to take a bathroom break . Easy tiger !!!
