You might want to strip it, brown it or blue it, even rehandle it. But in the mean time you have a functioning 'hawk.
 
Have always used an H&B Hawk, they have been around since the 1960's when still owned by the Amish in Ohio.

Workmanship on their hand forged tomahawks and other products is done completely by owner Jarrod Barber, and is guaranteed for life. He uses type 1095 steel in their hawk and axe bits, which runs down the center of the blade. That is wrapped with 1018 steel.
