I'm back in my home state of Connecticut for a few weeks.
Deer hunting with a few of my old friends.
Using a borrowed crossbow and treestand this week, next week shotgun season opens. I'll be using my buddy's CVA Optima V2 rifle for a few days.
For my last few days, I plan to hunt up in Vermont at my buddy Tom's place.
Hopefully, I can take at least one deer anyway.
If not, no biggie, just happy to have the opportunity to come back east. My health has improved greatly from the last couple months.
I feel blessed to be with my dearest old friends who I love like brothers.
My friend Brad's wife Jen has been treating me like a prince, Lol.
She said I can't go home until I gain about 5 pounds. I'm gonna work on that.

Good for you! And good luck on the hunting. If Brad's wife can cook, take advantage of her insistence. LOL

There's good hunting in CT. I've hunted near the Quaddick State Forest in CT.
Good luck!

There's some big deer in Connecticut. For a small state, there's plenty of state land opportunities for hunting.
I know where you're talking about but I have pretty much only hunted in the western parts of Connecticut.
The rut is starting to kick in here, so I'm pretty hopeful to connect.

Enjoy your vaca, good hunting & safe travels

Good luck in Connecticut this week, but I live in Vermont, don’t waste your time, no deer here. They all crossed the line and now live in NY.
Seriously though, no acorns here this year, few apples, and no beech nuts either. Could be a tough winter. Deer are all feeding in hayfields, mostly after dark with this big full moon.

My buddy has a camera out in the yard. Deer every night eating grass.
Connecticut and here in Oklahoma, seems to be the same, not much acorns either.

Good to hear your health has improved and your able to hunt. Your fortunate to have such life-long friends. Good luck!

Thought I'd report in this rainy morning here in Southern New England.
My buddy Brad and I hunted a few days so without much luck.
Yesterday afternoon, we hunted a piece of state land that I've always had good luck at.
My goal is to help fill Brad's freezer, so I'm not being too picky.
At about 2pm, Yesterday, I had a 4 pointer come by my setup.
I took the shot at about 35 yards. As my luck sometimes goes, the arrow hit a tree branch that I didn't see and I totally missed. Oh well, that's hunting.
