Which describes animals that move about in random patterns both in the daylight, and during the hours of darkness. Like whitetail deer.

Diurnal animals are only active during daylight hours.

Nocturnal animals are only active during nighttime hours.

Crepuscular animals are those that like to spend their most active times of the day moving about during the morning & evening twilight hours.

Wikipedia is a wonderful thing. I can recall having old, hand-me-down copies of The Encyclopedia Britannica that my rich cousin's parents had donated to our much poorer family, as reference material to use for when one of us kids needed to look up the meaning of something.
 
The last week or so I have had fawns in the yard minus their mamas. A couple of days later the mamas show up again. This old boy was probably keeping the mamas busy.
