Well, I’ve been shooting for 30+ years and have never dealt with this: shooting a year old Savage 110 in 350 Legend, and had a massive over pressure cartridge. Had shot a few prior with zero issues, and then this one was louder and sharper kick. Had to use a hammer to lift the bolt, and use a rod to punch out the case (at least what remained) from the chamber. This were “factory” loads (not a big name factory, but still, sold over the counter/online, so “factory load”). No explanation, yet, as to the cause. That’s under investigation. All that for my actual question: thoughts on possible damage to gun? As I said, plenty of experience shooting, no experience nearly blowing guns up. Ammo owner has said they’ll cover cost of any repairs, but do I want to hang onto this gun if it’s just possibly an extractor or ejector that needs fixed, (while obviously getting a full replacement if it’s major damage.) Trying to get it into a gunsmith for a full going over. Just unsure if there are possible issues down the road that might show up due to this. Any thoughts are welcome!
