I take it to mean that that Alliant 2400 is a powder recommended by Savage?

Look at the date of this topic. Its 15yr old and a lot has changed since then. N105 was never a recommended powder and its quite fast burning. Why would you want to use a powder that is even faster burning like 2400?

Never said I wanted to, just by the way the question was about, I was just curious it was also my thinking it would be too fast.

Somewhere along the Savage ML time line they did recommend 2400. It was around 32gr max and speed is mediocre. Its main drawback is its a fine grain powder. Not a good choice for vent liners as they wear. The powder can get past the flash hole.

N110 will do all you want with a 250gr. N120 or Reloder7 will do it all with a 300gr. All three are very well tested and used by tons of MLII owners. Until Hodgdon brings back SR4759 there really is not anything else going that has an advantage. 5744 will work but its dirty and the speed is only about the same as BH209. A little less actually.
