Primer blowback ?

Every rifle in this house has zero blow back around the primer. This is accomplished by having rifles 'crush' the primer slightly when the action is closed. This 'crush' marries the nose of the primer to the breech plug, which makes a seal. Every rifle here, has zero blow back.

Plumber tape is wrapped around the thread of the breech plugs to make a seal between the plug, and the rifle. This ensures no blow back around the breech plug. No rifles here have blow back.

Wrapping plumber tape around the breech plug isn't difficult, and works good. Wrapping plumber tape around a primer would seem to be near impossible. It should be said no one around here has tried to wrap tape around a primer. Further, it can be said, no one around here will ever attempt to wrap plumber tape around a primer.

Some old people sure are stubborn.

Ive never heard that. Teflon tape around the breech plug threads is common tho. Theres a little oring you can put inside the primer pocket in the breech plug. Doesn't tighten the primer but it does seal it up and stop the blowby from coming out and dirtying the breech.

Update as promised. It was actually much easier than anticipated to wrap the primers, and definitely did cut down on the visible signs of blowback. Gonna keep pulling that thread in terms of number of wraps and getting a tight fit etc, but I think I'll probably do this before hunting in damp environments.
