My Whitetail came to me with a bent recoil lug. The combination of a thin lug, only one action
screw, a relatively soft plastic stock, and heavy loads was no doubt the cause.
Whitetails are known to have this issue. I straightened the lug in a vise without removing
the barrel and added a rear action screw. I put a pillar in the stock for the rear screw
and bedded the action. I left the barrel free floating although the forend is very flexible
and I sometimes wish I had bedded it too.
Anyway, something to be aware of especially if your contemplating shooting heavy
full bore bullets.
