What is the biggest pig or hog you've dropped in it's tracks with a shot to the vitals?

Most of my hogs, especially the larger ones, were killed using my .50 Encore, the 250 grain SST bullet and 120-140 grains of powder.

The larger a hog is the harder it is to kill. Had a few bang flops on 300 pound and larger hogs using high shoulder shots. That shot damages and shocks the central nervous system. It's a good shot on deer too.

Be prepared for a large hog shot in the lungs to run 200 yards or more.

This boar measured over 19 inches through the shoulders, he ran about 200 yards after being shot through both lungs. The 250 grain SST bullet was found under the skin on the off side.

Hey Okie, do you have a count on how many hogs you’ve killed, or an estimate?
