Just thought I would post a few photos of my squirrel gun I built a couple years back. It's a lefty .40 cal, which is also the smallest legal deer caliber here in Missouri.

Thanks guys! Yep, pretty much limited to head shots but it really doesn't do an more damage than a high velocity .22 longrifle. I actually started on this gun about 10 years ago, did such a horrible job that I set it in a corner of the shop and wished I hadn't "ruined" it. After getting a few rifle builds under my belt I decided I could rasp off all the horrible carving, slim the whole gun down and make a much more appropriate gun out of it. Also allowed me to stop using my .50 cal for squirrels - head shots are the only option with that one for certain! ;)

Beautiful gun. What load are you shooting out of it?

Psjoden, I normally use a thick patch, for some reason this gun liked a thin one. Using an .015 linen patch, .395 swaged ball and 55 grains of fffg Goex. That load generates enough speed in the small .40 cal that it shoots close to point of aim 25-50 yards (as well as I can anyways) and I can ring my 6"x8" steel plate at 100 yards.

The group below is eight shots at 50 yards, from my bench with a sandbag rest.

Nice squirrel rifle, here is my GM barrelled T/C .40 with a few squirrels.. most accurate muzzleloader Ive owned besides my Bestill .32..dime sized groups at 40 yds if I did my part. Only reason I sold it was it weighed 13#.
