SSK visit 6/5-6/6/23

I needed a favor from Dave on my 6.5 PRC rifle. So i decided to drive over and check out SSK which is new to me. Then also talked to Gordy and we decided to shoot our Mongrels for about 5 hours on Tuesday. I was really happy to shoot a pretty good 5 shot group in front of them with the 270grn Parker Match hunter. These bullets are really pleasant to shoot and load out of the Mongrel. Here's my first 5 shot group today at 100 yards.




We had a great day shooting and comparing velocities to my ProChrono. Here's Gordy checking velocities for me.





On Monday i took photos around the shop at SSK. Boy, they are spending money on new equipment. It was really cool seeing receivers and barrels being made for the contender.

This is an automatic welder, cool as ****.

Yes, they own all the rights now.

I was already planning to buy an SSK Contender frame. An SSK Encore frame would be even better. I understand the reason for the delays on the Contender but once they're up and running hopefully the Encore development won't be quite as long.

Lots of folks have been waiting impatiently for the SSK50 frames! Great to see the progress.

I was just complaining to a friend of mine last week that I could not believe no one has grabbed the TC rights to build frames. Very good news indeed!
