Tennessee (Chilhowee R&G) held their Spring match today. Great weather, although it got warm & muggy quick.
With Graduations in the area, many regulars couldn’t attend.. But, those that did had a great time shooting, eating lunch and talking ML.
This match seemed to be like last weeks Friendship match - close. 2 shooters cleaned the paper. From the results the Chicken was the tough one again..
I was thrilled to see that a tie and 5 shooters were within 2 points..
Justin & I enjoyed our victory together, not only for the sportsmanship, but because were shooting the same 45 Mountaineer with 2 completely opposite spectrum of loads.
    Justin: 90/64.5gr weighed BH209, Cutting Edge 240gr Raptor - MV:1950.
Rick: I tried something new - subsonic all the way.. 48/34gr weighed BH209, 530gr pure lead grease groove HP. MV:1100.
Thanks to John Mankin for hosting this match and feeding everyone - John shot well too.
Special thanks to Doug, Scott & Jeremy for traveling many hours to shoot & support the match, they too shot well.
Lots of fun and camaraderie with old and new friends- see all of you in a few weeks at Friendship.

Subsonic shot better than I thought it would at 200 as I only shot a few rounds at 50yds by my chrono to get the powder charge/MV to 1100fps.
    1) Recoil was less - let the bullet do the work.
    2) Calculated 128 shots out of a $40 can of BH209 @ $0.31/shot. Add primer $0.10, bullet $0.05.
    3) 25 shot match maybe 40 shots total with sighters cost a total of $18.40.

    4) Ballistics of the load..

I thought I read BH209 is more efficient - the more you use? LOL

Thanks, he hasn’t shot in 4 years since starting college. Told him his 40 cal Encore needed a workout- he agreed. Said he had fun.
His 1st time shooting BH209, he said - “OMG this is easy”.
