That would be 8 moa for those of us with old fashion scopes.

🙂
Pretty close to that. The SWFA SS has marks in mil or moa depending on which you get. So really, no dialing is even needed. The load itself looks to have ample energy quite a bit further if someone is a good enough shot.

I'm assuming that these numbers are being run for bare bore in a .45... does anyone have any idea what powder measurement in BH209 it would take for a .50 with sabots? (BTW I shoot an Encore .50, if that makes a difference?) I ask this because as I get older I am more and more interested I am interested in getting away from "magnum" type charges...

Sabot or sabotless makes no difference in the ballistic table. A 50cal 1-28 though is a tad slow for a 1.1" long .452 bullet. Its still in the stability zone according to JBM though. They will be rather long for most sabots. MMP HPH-24 or Harvester EZ-Load sabots will be the best bet. Maybe a black Crushrib too.

I have multiple different sabots to try for this but I guess my question is how much BH209 does it take in a .50 to get around the 1600fps? I am currently shooting around 115gr by volume and have considered backing it down a bit to around like 90ish grains... I was also considering going to something like a 300gr Speer Gold dot since pretty much all my shots are within 100 yards...

Should be less than 90grV in a 50cal but thats only a guess. A Sub-X 410gr is offered in a .458. Those you would likely want the new Havester Crushrib for 50x458.

I will see if i can find Toby's write ups on 400gr loads in 50cal. Dont think he had any that low but we might be able to "guessimate".

just recieved my 395s from Midway. They look like they've been handled a lot. I think i will try to get a fit for my Accura and Omega. Then work up some loads. Many will go into 450bm tho. I may buy another box or two before theyre gone.

GM54-120 thank you gor your help. It is much appreciated. I will use that info for my load development this fall

Hornady has a video (talking about their .308 190 gr. Sub-X) where they say these are designed for 1100 fps, and you need to be careful sending them at 1500 fps or more. They also warn about shooting them in a fast twist suppressor. I would assume the .452 bullets are similar.

I like big heavy bullets that are soft, but jacketed. I may have to order some.
