Thompson endeavor 209x50 mag Question, new shooter

I am very new to black powder rifles & have traditional renegade which I love. I am trying to set up an NEW on-line Endeavor 50 cal. I am in my 70s and have a difficulty cocking the hammer with finger strength. I reset the angle to cock the hammer but the my scope is a more forward than I in order to cock the hammer. My finger must reach under the scope to cock the hammer. I cock my Thompson contender without a problem. Will it get easier with use? Low ring gives me the most Natural position, I also tried Med rings. Any helpful advise or tips will be appreciated.
