My oldest son killed a deer last November 2023 with the White Super 91. 504. I cleaned the rifle while he butchered. I reloaded again so he could hunt more, but didn't get another shot.

Fast forward to yesterday. Rifle remained loaded one year later. He shot and killed a spike buck at estimated 60 yards. The shot was instant with no problem.
I used a white plumber taped conical over unlubed felt wad and 85 grains of T7 2Fg.
Absolutely no damage to the rifle or bore for a year!
I cleaned it again and he didn't get another shot this year. I will use the. 504 as backup to the. 451 Super 91. Hopefully I will get the chance to shoot them both by seasons end.

Good info there. 👍 Some here have mentioned having similar results. I assume not loaded left in a hot humid garage for a year. Which brings me to a question?? Will t7 become corrosive if moist? Or only after ignition? I know it absorbs moisture so if allowed to get damp, ignition will suffer. Next I guess is can a powder exposed to high humidity be dried out to the same effectiveness?

I kept the rifle above in a gun safe with heating rod to keep moisture out.
The T7 powder (along with Blackhorn) multiple cans are kept separately in a wooden locked cabinet. It gets humid here in the VA.summer months, but with HVAC system it stays comfortable. Both powders stay loose and don't clump. I must be doing it right for the longevity with no issues!

Just to add.... This year long shooting on a loaded gun applies to Blackhorn powder as well!
My brother killed a deer yesterday with his TC Omega 50 cal. He had cleaned the rifle and reloaded with Blackhorn, didn't get another shot last season.
He asked me if it was alright to leave loaded which I told him my experiences.
The deer dropped DRT, shot was instant. He even used the same 209 primer that came out unused last year.

Glad it worked out. I have left one loaded for a couple months before without an issue, but never a year. I am overly cautious and would shoot it at the end of the season. Also, I would never hunt with a gun that I didn’t shoot and check zero before the beginning of a season. Just my thoughts.

I hear what you are saying and would normally agree.
Both of these rifles had just killed deer before being cleaned and reloaded. They could have been bumped or something knocking off the scopes, but weren't. Unlikely they would drop zero in the gun safe.

TT,

I have a little left in a bottle that’s almost 20 years old and I’m still using it every year. 😬

You don’t need any 50cal magnum as a backup! That 451 squirrel gun will meet your needs and then some.😂
