I tried a was under the patched ball in my .50 Renegade.
She did not like that! 4 inch group at 50. Thought maybe it was me, so I shot the remainder without wads and got 2, 3 shot groups of 1 1/4 inches. 6 of the 10 shots fired cut holes!
Suddenly, not only am I shooting well with a flintlock (!), but I'm getting to like the silly thing! Mind you, not enough to compare with my Firehawk, but this year is turning into a marvel. One happy surprise after another!
Muzzleloaders...

You said it! 20 plus years of the flintlock kicking my butt! But, like Solomon wrote
" There is a time for every purpose under Heaven". Apparently, this is my time.
This is even more remarkable because of her bore being a mess of tight and loose spots.
Lately I've been finding muzzleloaders in need of rescuing. They seem to be grateful!
The load is my usual. A Hornady .490 ball, Ox Yoke .010 patch lubed with Bore Butter, over 70 grains of 3f Swiss. She likes it when the ball JUST kisses the powder.
