The only primers that I use are CCI 209 magnum. I know others will work but you definitely can't use muzzleloader primers.

I'm using Winchester W209. As stated, don't use primers designed for muzzleloaders. Shotgun primers.

I have used Federal’s, Winchester’s and Remington’s all designed for actually shotgun reloading, no issues with any of them.

The Federal 209a are the hottest primers and what I use. It's also one of the two primers recommended by the maker of BH 209.

Hey smokeploe I remember there was lots of talk about modified breech plugs for bh 209. I acquired one a number of years ago. I'm using wincester primers but have used others as well. No problems. Good luck.

CCI 209M, Federal 209a, winchester w209 are best for blackhorn209. I tried some italian primers and while they worked, some often had the primer hole off center which caused issues with fouling in the plug.

CVA includes the Vari-flame from Prbullet.com with their Paramount model in-line that uses Large Rifle primers for Blackhorn 209

I use W209 because they are very good also and just a smidge longer (which often creates a better fit). They always fire, and I have zero blowback.

CCI 209 mag primers as stared work great in my CVA optima ... I have never had a misfire using them with BH 209 powder...
