This was a tough year for late cow elk hunting in NM. Snow and cold drove them lower than usual the first hunt in Dec. and wind kept them hidden the first 3 days of the second hunt. Glad you had fun. A new hunting friend told me he didn't care if he ever got one, he just loves being out there. I feel the same, but I have to admit that it is mighty nice to get one. My extended family is sad when I don't get one, because they've grown up eating elk, and they love it. In my opinion, it is a class above deer meat.
