Hi there from Coastal North Carolina.
I have tried percussion. I have a lovely Thompson center pattern .50 percussion rifle that I carried for 4 years and had many of the same powder problems as my flinter did.Welcome, from North Carolina! Nothing wrong with inlines, but did you try percusssion instead of flintlock?
I have several .50’s so all of my gear is .50 oriented, but if a good option for a .54 or .58 inline that uses no.11 caps showed up I would be interested for sure. I’m having a ton of trouble finding an in-line that uses no.11’s instead of musket caps.I would look at either a 54 or 58 cal for Elk.
