I am piecing together a CVA Hawken .50. I purchased a ram rod retainer spring. It looks like it just lays in the stock ram rod groove, bend down, rolled end towards muzzle.

When I lay it in, it fits sloppily and does not appear to be right.

Does anyone know how it is supposed to be installed?

Thanks,

installed just like you see it in the picture. When you install the barrel and then the ramrod, the top left section pressed against the barrel, making for a snug fit.

Thanks. It must tighten up when the rod is installed. Just have to keep up with it each time the barrel is pulled.

The front lock bolt go's through the round loop in the spring. That's what holds it in place.

Thank you for the replies. The stock I have is not drilled for a front bolt. The rod has enough friction to stay in place so I am going to try it with out the spring for a while.
