Congrats on kicking off the season. what range and what load were you using?
Hunted on the ground this morning. The deer came in to about 15 yards or so.
80 grains by volume charge of Triple 7 2f and a Hornady xtp 240 grain bullet.
My shot impacted the opposite side at the shoulder a bit to the right of my aim point. Probably me not holding steady enough. When I gutted the deer, I found that my bullet ripped through the heart and other internal stuff. She didn't get very far after being hit.
At the state land where I am, I been seeing the same spike horn every day. He came by this morning, right on schedule and I let him walk by. This doe showed up about 45 minutes later. Time to bring home some meat, I figured.

Way to go guys! My season starts this Saturday. I’ve only go two little pieces of tenderloin left from last year so I hope I can share your good luck and good aim.

Congrats. Wednesday must have been a good day. I also got a fat little doe but with the bow. Like you said: meat for the freezer. Anyway, you can't eat antlers!

That's the way it's done and you did one h&%lova job.
