Well Halloween evening we put some venison in the freezer. Nothing to brag about but this 100lb field dressed 3×3 will make some fine eating. He first came out at around 15yrds from my ground blind but he was very nervous and on high alert. I think he must have sensed something. He never snorted or stomped. He just turned and trotted off before we could get a shot. Then about 30 minutes later he came out again at about 30yrds . Put the crosshairs on his shoulder and touched it off. He jumped up with left front leg dangling and took off on a 100yrd death run pumping out a blood trail a blind man could follow. We were using my CVA Kodiak Pro Magnum 45 cal with a 385 grain No Excuses Lead Cast Bullet over a patch and 90 grains of 777. Bullet entered left front shoulder and exited the right rib cage right at the diaphragm. Took out both lungs and creased the heart.

Great job bigdan! Ive never shot that big a bullet in my Kodiak. Maybe i’ll cast some bigger bullets for it soon.
They are grouping well but they kick like a mule!!!
I loved the old TC Maxi Hunter bullets but since they went out of business I have not been able to find any . I wish I could find a 45 caliber and a 50 caliber mold for the Maxi Hunter .

I see .50 maxi hunter molds for sale some times but those .45 molds are scarce. I prefer the Accurate mold 45-340i. Similar but better imho. .

Too bad you don’t get into casting. There are plenty of bullets to choose from. E.g Lyman 330gr HP Gould mold,
I plan on getting into it eventually. Right now I have my hands full with a full time job and raising two little foster girls 3 and 6yrs old . Those two little angels wear out this 57yr old man.
