Help, Semi-Auto rifle

I have not owned CF nothing in years. Back when i used bolt actions or single shots to hunt deer with. So i am a noob on what i need to know. Due to this Hamas killing of the Israelites. My Mrs. is having hissy fits because of all those Border crossers maybe the same mental thinking of us here. So without breaking a poor mans Bank what rifle n caliber would be good for 100 yard fire power for the purpose of shtf with them ?

As far as I am concerned they could napalm that entire area for a week. Then they could go to Mexico and do the same stating at the Rio Grandeafter they stock it heavily with piranhas.

Our command center likes 22LR. cheaper ammo, can carry a lot, who wants to be shot at by a 22????

For a SHTF rifle it needs to be .223/556.

I’ve had a Ruger AR556 since they came out and it’s been 100% reliable with any ammo. Worth a look.

Geez all those uppers n lowers n build kits, i have no idea on that stuff. I have never had my hands on one let alone tried to put one together. I was thinking one that was already to go shoot with a mid length barrel, 16"-18"20" ? Anything that is like that for $600 ? plus i have to buy her ammo i have couple decent red dots to put on one.

I would suggest mid length gas and a nitride or chrome lined barrel.

Just get you some SKS or Ak47 rifles the 7.62x39 ammo is available and usually cheaper

I have a couple ARs. A S&W m&p15 and a PSA build. But if i have to grab a shtf gun it wont be an AR, it’ll be a Mossy 500 customized to hold 10+1 and a 9mm with lotsa mags. If you aren’t familiar with semi autos, it may not be the ideal gun for you. Get to a LGS and rent an AR.
