Need some thoughts, opinions and first hand knowledge concerning KIT GUNS :!: I can get a "TRADITIONS" ST. LOUIS HAWKEN in .50 cal for $350.00. The price really isn't the issue. The issue is, how safe are they to shoot and how is the accuracy :?: All replies will be appreciated :yeah:

There is nothing wrong with kit guns. If they are assembled correctly, they make a nice rifle. But that kind of money for a Tradition's St Louis Hawken I personally, and now this is my opinion, too much!! I have a friend that shoots a Traditions St Louis Hawkens .50 caliber. And I have shot it. I personally was not impressed with it at all. Now their Woodsman Hawkens is a nice rifle.

if you want to put a kit together, get a Lyman Great Plains Rifle Kit. They are nice looking, and make a great rifle.

350 is high for this kit.
kit guns are safe. i think you will find many posts online with a simple search
this is a rough kit at best the wood in this line "hardwood" meaning just that
might be maple but i would not hold my breath on that one.
but then hardwood is a large area of wood types.
a good stain will be in order.

you may need these if you get the kit.
